Monterey Bay Area has many excellent cycle paths. One of the paths goes from Castroville all the way to Pacific Grove through Sea side, Sand City, Monterey and both board walk areas. 

I can recommend the Seaside to Pacific Grove path as a sunny afternoon activity.

There are also several places to rent bicycles in Monterey and lots of vista points and coffee shops along the way. Enjoy!

And if you're a little more serious about your cycling there's always the path from Castroville to Monterey. Enjoy!
