I've sailed out of Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Moss Landing, and all three are excellent if you're a sailor. I highly recommend a "Santa Cruz to Monterey" day sail.

My husband also seems to like the very small sail boats that seem to tip over and you fall out.. a lot.

You can rent one of these small boats in Monterey as well if you like.
