Monterey Bay Area hosts some of the most beautiful birds in the US. It has one of the most diverse wet land habitats in the world. Elkhorn Slough is a great place to visit and has wonderful bird life. Elkhorn Slough, is also the home to 50 plus Sea Otters, so I'd highly recommend a trip, take binoculars with you.
